I am a freelance web developer who loves to raft class III-IV rivers. My favorite rivers are the Cabarton run of the North Fork Payette and the South Fork Paytte in southwest Idaho. |

Background
I moved to Boise, Idaho in the fall of 1987. My only experience rafting was when my family floated a scenic section of the Snake River near the Tetons in Wyoming when I was young. Although I had seen whitewater rafting in the movies, I though you had to use a guide because no one really knew how to raft on their own. Then I met some people who were experienced rafters and I caught the bug. One of my first trips was a five-day adventure on the Main Salmon in the summer of 1996. The following spring I purchased a used 16\' AIRE cataraft but eventually sold it and purchased a 14\' Riken SB.

One of the best-known rapids on the Main Salmon (near Riggins, Idaho) is Timezone. Though this is a Class III+ at most flows, it can be easily navigated if you pay attention and stay clear of some very large holes.
Want to drive everyone crazy? This is the perfect community game for those extended trips on the Main Salmon River. Just don’t give away the secret too early!
The Middle Fork of the Salmon is Idaho’s premier river and is considered one of the top 10 rivers in America. I know why, now, after spending six wonderful days floating this special 100 miles of high mountain river.
